
Jennifer Eury has been appointed as the associate dean for undergraduate education at the Penn State Smeal College of Business, with the effective date set for January 1, 2025. The announcement was made by Corey Phelps, the John and Karen Arnold Dean of the Smeal College of Business.
Background and Experience
Eury has been affiliated with the Smeal College for 16 years, during which she has undertaken various roles among both staff and faculty. Most recently, she served as the undergraduate management major program coordinator and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Management and Organization. She will succeed Felisa Preciado Higgins, who transitioned to a position at Purdue University as the associate vice provost and dean of the John Martinson Honors College.

Regarding Eury’s qualifications, Phelps noted her extensive experience in undergraduate education, indicating that she is well-prepared to lead the Office of Undergraduate Education (UGE). He expressed assurance in her capacity to succeed in her new role.

Eury’s previous roles at Smeal include director of honor and integrity, as well as director of alumni relations. She has been active within the Smeal and broader management education sectors, holding various positions in professional organizations and committees.
Commitment to Educational Enhancement
In her upcoming role, Eury expressed a commitment to enhancing the undergraduate educational experience by collaborating with faculty, staff, and students. Her responsibilities will encompass strategic planning, operations, budgeting, and assessment within the Office of Undergraduate Education, which comprises nearly 50 staff members focused on student success.
Academic Background and Research
Eury holds a doctorate in higher education and a master of science degree in business administration, both from Penn State. Her research has addressed topics such as identity threat, organizational culture, and ethical behavior in educational contexts, with her findings published in several academic journals.
Plans for the Future
As she prepares for her new position, Eury plans to work closely with the UGE team to understand their needs and improve the undergraduate program’s alignment with the college’s priorities and goals.
