Concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) bias and data privacy are becoming increasingly prominent in higher education. A recent report from Ellucian, a technology firm specializing in higher education, highlights these growing concerns among educators, particularly in the areas of bias and data privacy. The findings are based on the second annual AI survey conducted by Ellucian, which included responses from 445 faculty and administrators across 330 educational institutions in the United States.
Growing Concerns About AI Bias
Data from the survey indicate a significant increase in worries about bias within AI models, with the percentage of respondents expressing concern rising from 36% last year to 49% this year. Additionally, apprehensions related to data security and privacy linked to AI systems also escalated, climbing from 50% to 59%.
