Instead, advocates for change within higher education argue for a focus on fostering understanding and dialogue, avoiding protective measures that could alienate those with differing political views.

In light of the complex political landscape, further recommendations for universities include encouraging students to engage with opposing viewpoints, expanding discussions about diversity beyond simplistic categorizations, and emphasizing the need to examine the material conditions within society.

With political divisiveness on the rise, promoting critical thinking and civic engagement has become increasingly important. The higher education community is encouraged to prioritize educational strategies that foster meaningful engagement with diverse perspectives, preparing students to navigate and contribute to a democratic society reflective of a wide array of beliefs and experiences.
