Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) has been recognized in the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings as a “Best College” following the release of the 2025 Best College Rankings. ENMU achieved a rank of 46th out of 115 institutions in the social mobility category for regional universities in the Western United States, an improvement of 24 positions from the previous year.
Social Mobility Rankings
The social mobility rankings evaluate institutions based on their effectiveness in enrolling and graduating economically disadvantaged students. Focus is placed on those who receive Pell Grants, a form of federal assistance intended for students from families with an adjusted gross income typically below $50,000.
Chancellor’s Remarks
James Johnston, Chancellor of ENMU, articulated the importance of this recognition, highlighting the role of regional comprehensive universities in facilitating access to higher education. He noted that ENMU is dedicated to enhancing the socio-economic status of its students through the attainment of a college degree.
Additional Rankings
In addition to its performance in the social mobility category, ENMU was also ranked among the top 50 public universities in the Western United States and within the top 100 regional universities in the same region.
