Vui Nguyễn, an MBA student at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), has embarked on an educational journey that originated in Vietnam. To finance her high school education, she sold vegetables in the local market, coming from a family of farmers in Thái Bình City. This early experience fostered a strong work ethic and a commitment to education, enabling her to navigate various challenges.
Educational Path and Work Experience
Following high school, Nguyễn pursued undergraduate studies in Vietnam and subsequently secured employment in the banking sector, where she worked for six years. Her desire to further her education was driven by a goal of achieving greater financial independence. She noted that her humble beginnings instilled important values, including work ethic, tenacity, perseverance, and passion.
Study Abroad Aspirations
With a determination to broaden her experiences, Nguyễn explored options to study abroad, particularly in the United States. She viewed higher education as a pivotal step toward breaking a cycle of poverty that affected her family for generations. CSUF was selected for its solid reputation, diverse community, and supportive environment. She is currently in her second year of the MBA program within the College of Business and Economics.
Mentorship and Future Aspirations
At CSUF, Nguyễn has benefited from faculty mentorship, which has motivated her to consider pursuing a Ph.D. in the future. Her ultimate goal is to return to Vietnam to take on a faculty position at a university, with the intention of mentoring students and creating employment opportunities for underserved communities.
Gratitude for Support
Nguyễn has expressed appreciation for the support she has received throughout her educational experience at CSUF, acknowledging the contributions of professors, staff, and peers.
