The Latin American Congress on Higher Education: Education with Meaning and Relevance is scheduled to take place from October 1 to 4, 2024, in San José, Costa Rica. Offering both online and in-person participation options, the event seeks to examine the roles of Latin American higher education institutions in addressing regional challenges.
Inaugural Panel and Distinguished Speakers
The inaugural panel aims to inspire participants to reassess and co-create an education system that fulfills the demands of the 21st century, while also promoting engaged citizenship to support community and national development. Distinguished speakers will include Sylvia Valenzuela Tovar, Vice President of the Latin American University Union (ULEU); Laura Ramirez Saborío, Executive Director of the National Higher Education Accreditation System (SINAES); Yuma Inzolia, Director of Capacity Development at the International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC – UNESCO); and Randall Blanco Lizano, a retired research professor at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). The panel will be moderated by William Solís-Brenes, Vice Rector for Educational Innovation, Academic Quality, and Research at the International University of the Americas (UIA).
Panel Discussions and Focus Areas
Panel discussions are set to explore current trends and opportunities in higher education with a focus on enhancing policies and actions for comprehensive and high-quality education. The discussions will take into account the social, economic, political, and cultural realities of the region.
