Louisiana has achieved a 51% educational attainment rate, marking a rise from 47% since 2021. This milestone highlights the achievement of over 30,000 residents who have obtained degrees or credentials, according to recent reports.
Goals for Educational Attainment
Higher Education Commissioner Kim Hunter Reed noted the state aims to reach an educational attainment level of 60% by 2030. The increase in educational attainment is part of broader efforts to enhance access to higher education, improve workforce readiness, and create pathways for residents to attain valuable credentials. Commissioner Reed outlined that this plan is intended to serve as a roadmap for developing a more prosperous workforce future in Louisiana.
Initiatives to Improve Workforce Readiness
With six years remaining to meet the 2030 target, the initiative known as “Louisiana Prospers” is designed to equip state residents for better competition in the modern job market and improve their overall quality of life.
