On September 23, 2024, over 300 students from the Faculty of Business at Multimedia University participated in the Cybersecurity Showcase 2024, held at the Exam Hall on the Melaka campus. This annual event aimed to explore innovative concepts in cybersecurity and enhance awareness of the topic among undergraduate students.
Showcase Highlights
The showcase featured a diverse array of student projects in the field of cybersecurity, which were supervised by faculty lecturers and tutors. The event provided a platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and technical skills while developing essential competencies in teamwork, communication, perseverance, and problem-solving.
Opening Remarks
The proceedings began with opening remarks from Dr. Siti Zakiah Bt Melatu Samsi, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Dr. Hasmida Bt Jamaluddin, Deputy Dean of Academic and Innovative Learning. Distinguished guests included Prof. Ts. Dr. Heng Swee Huay from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology and Mr. Donovan Yap, Digital Marketing Manager (APAC) at Big Dutchman Agriculture (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Both guests highlighted the importance of the event and acknowledged the students for their innovative contributions to the field of cybersecurity.
Afternoon Session
During the afternoon session, Mr. Donovan Yap delivered an industrial talk titled “A New Era of Online Safety: How Governments and Platforms are Tackling Harmful Content.” His presentation provided insights into current governmental and platform initiatives aimed at addressing cybersecurity challenges.
Awards Ceremony
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony that recognized the top three outstanding cybersecurity projects with Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards, along with ten additional awards for noteworthy ideas.
